Clutching at Strawberries


If you're eating to lose weight, stay away from the fancy diet pills and crazy eating plans and simply reach for the strawberries. Eating processed carbohydrates and refined sugars causes your insulin levels to spike, making you hungry more often.

That's why eating foods that help to control your insulin sensitivity can make a big difference. A new study published in the British Journal Of Nutrition suggests that strawberries could be one such food.

Subjects in the study were given a high-carb meal with either a placebo or a strawberry beverage. The subjects who had the strawberry drink recorded a significantly lower insulin response after eating than those who had been given the placebo.

The researchers attributed this to the high antioxidant content in strawberries, in the form of vitamin C, glutathione and anthocyanins.
